Newly Elected El Cerrito NAACP Leader

The El Cerrito Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) board elected Cora J. Ward to serve a two-year term as the president of the longtime civil rights organization. The El Cerrito NAACP branch installed the new officers and president on Saturday, December 15, 2018 with support from Minister Derek Jackson, St. John Baptist Church, Mrs. Freddye Davis, President NAACP South Alameda County/West Area Regional Director, and Mr. Dan Daniels, Sr., Coastal Area Director California & Hawaii State Conference of the NAACP.
Attending the ceremony was a host of local and state dignitaries: Rochelle Pardue-Okimoto, Mayor of El Cerrito, Victoria Adams, President, NAACP East County Branch, George Holland, Sr. Esq. President, NAACP Oakland Branch, Willie Robinson, President, NAACP Richmond Branch, Morandon A. Henry, NAACP National Youth Works Committee Region 1 Board Member, Consula Lara, West Contra Costa Unified School Board Member, and Dr. Charlene Harlan-Ogbeide, San Pablo Planning Commissioner.
Ms. Ward has proven herself as the strong and decisive leader visible in the community. Her goals align with the national NAACP goals and she will be focusing on education and voter registration in the upcoming year. Ms. Ward is willing and able to uphold the NAACP mission and has a vision to mobilize the members of the El Cerrito NAACP chapter to encourage the community and address its needs.
