NAACP CA/HI Expands Efforts to Respond to Rising Hate Incidents in California
The California/Hawaii State Conference of the NAACP (CA/HI NAACP) is expanding its response to rising hate incidents and civil rights complaints across California, supported in part by funding from the state’s Stop the Hate Program.
In this video, we explore how the organization is helping individuals who experience hate or discrimination connect with critical resources, including referrals to the CA vs Hate hotline—California’s non‑emergency, multilingual reporting and support system created in response to a sharp increase in hate crimes statewide.
Leaders and legal advocates discuss the growing volume of civil rights complaints related to employment, housing, and education, and explain how legal consultations, referrals, and advocacy are helping victims navigate next steps.
The video also highlights the NAACP’s broader civil rights work, including:
Supporting victims of hate incidents and discrimination
Advocating for voting rights protections
Opposing efforts that could weaken the voting power of communities of color
Engaging state lawmakers on early voting and vote‑by‑mail policies
As hate incidents rise and access to trustworthy reporting and legal support becomes more critical, organizations like the NAACP CA/HI continue to play a key role in ensuring people are heard and protected.
