Report: Raiders Paying Russell $3M

The Raiders are still paying for taking JaMarcus Russell with the top pick.

Oakland is paying close to $3 million in a settlement over his rookie contract, the San Francisco Chronicle is reporting.

Russell, who was waived by the Raiders three years after the team made him the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, signed a six-year, $68 million contract as a rookie. He finished his career in Oakland by completing just 52.1 percent of his attempts with 18 touchdowns and 23 interceptions. He compiled a 7-18 record as a starter and a 65.2 passer rating.
