EXCLUSIVE: Melissa Rivers Only Sees One Outcome for Joan

(E! Online) – After doctors started the process of bringing Joan Rivers out of a medically induced coma Sunday, a family source tells ET that her daughter Melissa Rivers, 46, is only looking at one outcome — that Joan will eventually come out of this.
“There is only one outlook Melissa is looking at now — She’s like, ‘When my mother wakes up…,’ ‘When my mother see this and that …’ There is only one trajectory she sees this going in the direction of, which is positive,” a family source tells ET exclusively. “She refuses to acknowledge any other outcome than Joan coming out of this.”
Joan, 81, is currently unconscious, and the family doesn’t expect to know much more about her condition until midweek, as the process of bringing her out of a medically induced coma is a very slow one. The family is waiting to see if Joan wakes up and in what state — according to the source, the closer she gets to complete consciousness, the more tests they can conduct.
As for the life or death decision that may need to be made for Joan, the family source says that everyone — including Melissa — “knows how Joan would want it.”
