(Variety) – The Mo’ne Davis story is coming to Disney Channel. The 13-year-old who made history last summer as the first girl to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series is the subject of a biopic that the cabler is developing with producer Debra Martin Chase.

Davis’ skill and signature moves on the mound made her an instant sensation when she led her team, Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons, to the pennant.

Sheldon Candis and Justin Wilson are penning the script for “Throw Like Mo.” ESPNw, the women’s sports-focused unit that has covered Davis extensively, will consult on the movie, as will Davis.

Davis’ background and achievements in baseball as well as other sports makes her story a natural for the Disney Channel tween demo.
