The Beacon at Grant Park welcomed a new addition to its growing portfolio of businesses. Located along the blossoming Beltline, BakerDude Bakery Cafe is out to prove that its, “more than just frosting.”

Owned and operated by Orran Booher, BakerDude Bakery Cafe’s current storefront has been open for about three months. However, the bakery’s story began over two ago.

“We started out of our kitchen selling cupcakes online, then we brought our cupcakes to farmer’s markets, and then to our first retail space on Peachtree at Suntrust Plaza,” Booher said.

Booher’s interest in moving into another location led him to settle in at The Beacon. Further, the company’s need for a physical space was prompted by expanding their menu.

“People still love the cupcakes,” he explained. “When we say we are ‘More than just frosting,’ we did not originally mean that we sold more than cupcakes.”

According to Booher, the phrase originally meant that their recipe was delicious from the cake to the frosting and the toppings.

“We decided to sell not only cupcakes but also everyday food,” Booher explained.

Booher brought in a partner to add artisan bread, gluten-free blondies, and other baked goods to add more variety to the menu.

Now that they also serve savory options, the tagline has taken on a bigger meaning. BakerDude Bakery Cafe has managed to turn their occasional cupcake customers into daily breakfast and lunch regulars.

The bakery also specializes in catering for any sized party, event, or company luncheon with an artisan selection of sandwiches and sides. Additionally, they offer in-house delivery to Metro Atlanta as far north as Alpharetta.

The cafe doubles as a space to host book signings, meetings, and small entertainment events. Musical acts, authors, and event organizers can contact BakerDude’s website for availability.

As for patrons, Baker Dude Bakery Cafe opens every day for breakfast from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
