The son of a single teenage mom, and raised by his grandparents in Orangeburg, South Carolina, Jaime Harrison overcame the challenges of grinding poverty with the help of teachers and mentors who believed in him. Starting out as a teacher at his high school, Harrison said he’s dedicated his life to creating opportunity for others and he knows there is no quick fix to the challenges that face South Carolinians, recognizing what it’s like to be caught in the middle of political games.

Harrison is working to pull off a major political upset in a race against Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and he vows that he’ll work with anyone, regardless of party, to champion solutions that can make the American Dream a reality for more South Carolinians, from growing the middle class to protecting health care coverage for people with pre-existing conditions.
