Poll: NFL Viewing Unaltered by Ray Rice

(Politico) – A majority of Americans disapprove of the way the National Football League has handled the issue of domestic violence in the wake of the Ray Rice scandal, according to a new poll, but even more say it doesn’t affect how much they watch the sport.
Nearly 90 percent of NFL fans say the recent scandals embroiling the league hasn’t changed how much professional football they watch, an NBC poll released Thursday shows. In fact, viewership for NBC’s first “Sunday Night Football” since the Rice news broke, rose 8 percent to 22 million viewers, The Denver Post reported.
The NFL and its commissioner Roger Goodell have faced growing backlash since a video showing Rice knocking out his now-wife in an elevator went public last week, and subsequent reports said both were aware of the violence Rice exhibited toward his wife before issuing a two-game suspension in July.
Only 29 percent said Goodell should be forced to resign.
