Interior view 2027 Ford Explorer Active 4WD 360 Video

Interior of a modern car viewed from the passenger side, showing dashboard with touchscreen, steering wheel, and sunroof, with street outside the windows.

Inside, the Explorer Active does a good job of balancing modern design with easy operation. The cabin feels clean and straightforward. In front of the driver is a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and in the center is a 13.2-inch touchscreen with the Ford Digital Experience. That setup includes Google Maps, Google Play, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. It feels current without feeling confusing, and that matters because most buyers want tech that works without becoming a project.

Comfort is one of the Explorer Active’s strongest points. It comes with heated front seats, a 10-way power driver seat, tri-zone climate control, and USB ports in all three rows. With the Active Comfort Package, you also get an 8-way power passenger seat, heated steering wheel, and remote start. These are the kinds of features owners appreciate on cold mornings, long drives, and busy family days.

Space is another reason to look closely at this trim. Ford says the Explorer Active offers 16.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and a maximum cargo capacity of 85.8 cubic feet. This one also has the available second-row split bench with E-Z Entry, bringing seating up to seven passengers. One of the best details is the deep storage area under the cargo floor behind the third row, which adds hidden space for bags and gear.

The third row is usable, but not perfect. Headroom is decent, and the seatback reclines, which helps. But leg room is tight for taller adults, and getting out of the third row is harder than it should be. That makes it better for kids or shorter trips than for full-time adult use.
