(CNN) – Is there light at the end of the tunnel for Tiger Woods?

“Finally, I got something out of my round,” said a relieved Woods, whose miserable 2015 took a distinct turn for the better Thursday.

This season has been something of an annus horribilis for Woods, who has carded the worst round of his professional career, missed the cut three majors in a row for the first time and dropped to 286th in the world rankings in the process

But the 14-time major winner at last had something to smile about after shooting his lowest round for two years with a six-under 64 on the opening day at the Wyndham Championship.

Woods’ score of 64 comes 749 days on from his previous best round of 61 at the 2013 WGC Bridgestone Invitational — the last tournament win of his career.
