“The Best Man Holiday” Movie Trailer
The gang’s all back! See the trailer for “The Best Man Holiday,” the sequel we’ve all been waiting for.
After nearly 15 years apart, Morris Chestnut (“Identity Thief”), Taye Diggs (“Baggage Claim”), Regina Hall (“Scary Movie” franchise), Terrence Howard (“Hustle & Flow”), Sanaa Lathan (“Contagion”), Nia Long (“Soul Food”), Harold Perrineau (“Zero Dark Thirty”), Monica Calhoun (“Love & Basketball”) and Mellisa De Sousa (“Miss Congeniality”) reprise their career-launching roles in “The Best Man Holiday,” the long-awaited next chapter to the film that ushered in a new era of comedy.
In the closing frames of “The Best Man Holiday,” the groundbreaking movie from then first-time writer/director Malcolm D. Lee, Lance (Chestnut) and Mia (Calhoun) had just gotten married, and Harper (Diggs) proposed to a very shocked Robyn (Lathan). Murch (Perrineau) found the nerve to break up with Shelby (De Sousa) and begin dating Candy (Hall), the fantasy girl who’d become the love of his life, while the industrious Shelby rebounded and found herself in bed with lothario Quentin (Howard). And although Jordan (Long) was successful as a television producer, she seemed destined to stay unlucky in love.
Everything has changed since that day.
Throughout the years, there have been marriages, children and divorces — not to mention all the love and heartbreak that accompany a life well lived — but the group has not been able to manage a proper get-together since Lance and Mia’s wedding. But that’s all about to be remedied. When the college friends finally reunite over the Christmas holidays, they will discover just how easy it is for long-forgotten rivalries and passionate romances to be reignited.
“The Best Man Holiday” is in theaters Friday, November 15, 2013.

What’s On Your News Feed? How to Spot Election Misinformation
Social media is fueling a new era of election misinformation. Learn how to spot digital propaganda and protect your vote with expert tips from Onyx Impact.
Many young Black voters aren’t getting their election news from newspapers or TV. It’s coming from TikTok, Instagram and group chats. The Defender talks with Esosa Osa, founder and CEO of Onyx Impact, about how online propaganda targets Black communities and how to protect yourself before you share.
Osa explains why we’re “fundamentally in an information war,” why spotting AI fakes takes more than checking for extra fingers, and her three-step “receipts check” for anything that hits your feed. With early voting underway in Texas, she also shares why voting early is one of the best defenses against Election Day disinformation.
In this video, you’ll hear about:
– Why your news comes from where you spend the most time
– How fast lies spread now, and why that’s what’s new
– Why the “check the fingers” AI test isn’t enough
– The receipts check: find the source, pause on emotion, ask who benefits
– Why Texans should vote early
– Why Black news outlets need to get “off rented land”
