Shad Balch is an Environment & Energy Specialist at Chevrolet. In this role, Shad is charged with engaging various stakeholder groups to help the company reach its ambitious goal of zero crashes, zero congestion, and zero emissions. Based in Los Angeles, Shad helped launch several of the brand’s advanced technology vehicles including the Chevy Volt, Chevy Spark EV, and the Chevy Bolt EV. He also ran communications for Chevy’s fuel-cell EV program, which was the largest consumer FCEV demonstration program in the world. Shad served as Co-Chair for the California Environmental Dialogue from 2011 – 2015 and was a board member of the Motor Press Guild from 2013 – 2019. Prior to joining GM, Shad served in various appointed positions in the California government. Most recently, he was a Communications Director for former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Prior to that he served as Press Secretary for former Secretary of State Bill Jones and was a Cabinet Advisor to former Gov. Pete Wilson.
