Space-focused podcast will highlight crew member Dr. Sian Proctor in episode one
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Beginning Monday, Aug. 30, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® supporters and space enthusiasts can take a deep dive into the lives of the crew on Inspiration4, the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit, by listening to the St. Jude Mission of a Lifetime podcast. This four-part podcast series will introduce the world to each crew member, document their journeys to space and include exclusive content.
Episode one will highlight Dr. Sian Proctor, geoscientist, artist, author and analog astronaut, whose goal is to move toward a more “J.E.D.I. space” — her acronym that stands for a just, equitable, diverse and inclusive space as we advance human spaceflight.
“We are writing the narrative of human spaceflight right now, as we go to the moon, and we go on to Mars,” said Dr. Proctor. “What do we want that to look like? How do we make space really for everyone? Bring all of humanity along? Inspiration 4 is the perfect example.”
Inspiration4, launching on Sept. 15, is the world’s first all-civilian mission to orbit the Earth. St. Jude is the charitable beneficiary of Inspiration4, which is named for its four-person crew and mission to inspire support for the lifesaving work of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Commanded by Jared Isaacman, Inspiration4’s crew members represent the mission’s pillars of Leadership, Hope, Prosperity and Generosity. Crew members include Hayley Arceneaux, Chris Sembroski, Dr. Sian Proctor and commander Jared Isaacman.

Inspiration4 is the world’s first all-civilian mission to space scheduled on Sept. 15. Commander Jared Isaacman selected St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as its beneficiary and committed $100 million to St. Jude to inspire others to raise an additional $100 million to accelerate research on devastating childhood diseases and save children all over the world. Isaacman donated two seats to St. Jude, one of which will be occupied by 29-year-old Hayley Arceneaux, pediatric cancer survivor and physician assistant at St. Jude. Arceneaux will represent the pillar of Hope. The four crew members, including Isaacman and Arceneaux, will board the Falcon 9 launch vehicle at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida and orbit the Earth for multiple days on the Dragon spacecraft, before they return to Earth with a smooth water landing.
