(NNPA) – Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla. is the No. 1 high school basketball team in the United States, according to USA Today and MaxPreps.

USA Today released their Super 25 High School Basketball rankings over the past two weeks. On October 30, they released the Nos. 11-25 rankings and then Nos. 6-10 rankings on Oct. 31. They then began to release the top five every day this week.

The remaining top five teams are:

2. Wesleyan Christian (High Point, NC)
3. Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, VA)
4. Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, NV)
5. Plano West (Plano, TX)

The Eagles won the DICK’S Sporting Goods National Tournament, finished the season as the No. 1 team in the Super 25 rankings and show no sign of slowing down.

Begin with the No. 1 player in the country in power forward Ben Simmons, an LSU commit who was one of only two juniors on the ALL-USA team last season. Even at 6-9, Simmons is practically average height on this squad. Florida commit Noah Dickerson is 6-8, Wake Forest commit Doral Moore is 7-1 and Florida State commit Jean Marc Koumadje is 7-4. Freshman E.J. Montgomery is a 6-10 wing, and already drawing a lot of Division I interest. [USA Today]

MaxPreps also ranks Montverde Academy as the top team in the country. However, their top five is slightly different with Oak Hill as No. 2, Findlay Prep (Henderson, NV) as No. 3, La Lumiere (Laporte, IN) as No. 4 and Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA) at No. 5.
