(USA Today)—Ford Motor says it is recalling 850,050 of its 2013-2014 Ford C-Max, Fusion, Escape and Lincoln MKZ vehicles in North America for a potential airbag and safety-belt defect.

A short circuit in the control module could prevent airbags from deploying in a crash, prevent the belt pre-tensioners from working when a crash is imminent, and could prevent the stability-control system from working properly.

Ford says it knows of no accidents or injuries as a result of the flaw. Dealers will replace the control module free on affected vehicles.
