Zach Edey
Zach Edey stands out as one of the top Purdue basketball players in history and certainly the face of the modern era. At 7'2", Edey became the tallest player in Big Ten history and a nightmare matchup for opponents.
Over three seasons, he averaged 15.5 points, 8.6 rebounds, and more than a block per game. By December 2022, he had already joined Purdue’s 1,000-point club while also surpassing 100 career blocks.
His trophy case grew quickly: Big Ten Player of the Year, the Oscar Robertson Trophy, the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award, and Sporting News National Player of the Year.
Selected ninth overall in the 2024 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, Edey made an immediate impact—setting a franchise rookie record with 21 rebounds in a single game against Detroit in 2025.
Glenn Robinson
Glenn “Big Dog” Robinson is often mentioned first when discussing famous Purdue NBA players. A Boilermaker from 1992 to 1994, he averaged an incredible 30.3 points and 10.1 rebounds in his final season, sweeping conference scoring titles and earning the Naismith College Player of the Year Award.
Drafted No. 1 overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1994, Robinson signed a landmark $68 million contract—one of the biggest rookie deals of its time. He became a two-time All-Star, scored over 20 points per game across his career, and later helped the San Antonio Spurs win an NBA championship in 2005.
Robinson remains the most successful Purdue player in the NBA and a central figure in the discussion of Purdue basketball's all-time greats.
Joe Barry Carroll
A towering presence in the late 1970s, Joe Barry Carroll anchored Purdue’s run to the Final Four in 1980. He remains the only Boilermaker with more than 1,000 rebounds and holds the school record for career blocks (349).
Drafted No. 1 overall in 1980 by the Golden State Warriors, Carroll silenced early doubts by averaging nearly 19 points and nine rebounds as a rookie. He went on to a solid NBA career, proving why he is one of the top Purdue basketball players in history.
Rick Mount
Rick Mount is synonymous with Purdue scoring. Between 1967 and 1970, he averaged 32.3 points per game and finished as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,323 points. Twice a consensus All-American, he was among the top scorers in the nation and carried Purdue to national prominence.
Drafted by the ABA’s Indiana Pacers, Mount is remembered as one of the most prolific shooters of his era and a Purdue legend whose records stood for decades.
Jaden Ivey
Jaden Ivey is the latest star to come out of West Lafayette. After two years at the Boilermakers, he averaged 17.3 points as a sophomore and was named all-Big Ten before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2022.
The Detroit Pistons took Ivey, fifth overall, as he went on to start 73 games in his first year and proved why he is among some of the top Purdue basketball players. His combination of speed, scoring ability, and athleticism has made him one of the program’s most dynamic modern ambassadors.

Glenn Robinson remains Purdue’s most decorated NBA alumnus. He has all-star honors, a championship ring, and a career scoring average above 20 points per game to serve as the benchmark for what Boilermakers can accomplish at the next level.
